Our company was founded in 2011. We operate throughout Europe from our headquarters in Frankfurt am Main. Equal partners are Frankfurter Entsorgungs- und Service GmbH and KG Ludwig Melosch Vertriebs GmbH & Co. from Hamburg. This creates synergies from which you benefit. Our team consists of six qualified and motivated employees with a wealth of experience.

Our portfolio

In the area of waste paper, our portfolio ranges from loose collected goods to speciality grades such as kraft tissue paper or label backing paper. We find an efficient way to combine environmental protection with the highest possible yield for our partners for all the materials we offer. As waste paper experts, we are familiar with the entire range of grades.


We focus on medium and higher grades of waste paper as well as speciality grades of waste paper and plastic-coated materials. Format, rolls, bales or loose goods: you've come to the right place.


An excellent infrastructure enables us to be prepared for all eventualities. We are in a position to buffer any shortages or surpluses on the waste paper market. On request, we can advise you on material flow management and waste paper trading in Germany.

Development of the company

30.04.1934

The 28-year-old Frankfurt businessman Walter Trapp founded the Walter Trapp company to trade in scrap, non-ferrous metals and waste paper. The warehouse was located at the main goods station at Ladenstr. 4 in Frankfurt.

1935

That year, the company employed five workers. The first vehicles were purchased.

1937

The move to the Osthafen harbour took place: Franziusstraße 6 in Frankfurt.

1943 – 1945

After the destruction caused by the war, the company was quickly rebuilt.

1962

The waste paper business was further expanded.

1968

The first paper shredder was purchased for 700,000 marks. The Trapp company developed into one of the leading waste paper recyclers in Germany.

1972

The successful company founder passed away at the age of 66.

1985

In this year, the scrap metal trading company Walter Trapp was acquired by Thyssen-Handelsunion.

1992

The waste paper business was spun off. Trapp GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture between the Otto Group and RM-Recycling, was founded.

2011

Trapp Handelsgesellschaft mbH was formally founded by the equal partners: Frankfurter Entsorgungs- und Service GmbH and KG Ludwig Melosch Vertriebs GmbH & Co. from Hamburg.

2014

Trapp Handelsgesellschaft mbH commenced operations.

2024

10 years of Trapp Handelsgesellschaft mbH 1 million tonnes of waste paper traded and recycled for the production of new paper.
